Measurements of the Electric Conductivity of the Dome logo anglais

During the years 2001-2005, we have performed a series of measurements of the electric conductivity of the interior of the Dome of La Soufrière. These results provide information on the global structure of the dome, and allow the identification of the geological units (hydrothermal zones, massive lava deposits,...).

Besides a low conductivity upper layer and a high conductivity basement, our images show a vertical channel (with high electric conductivity) in the center of the dome, that corresponds to the main channel feeding the active hydrothermal vents of the summit (gouffre Tarissan and cratère Sud).
